Kokrajhar, Jan 7: Hundreds of small cars and big buses took part in the car rally which was carried out in Kokrajhar town on the occasion of celebrating Road Safety Week along with rest of the state on Monday in Kokrajhar.
The road safety week celebration was organized by the District Transport Officer (DTO); Kokrajhar, in association with traffic branch of Kokrajhar police which concluded today.
BTC executive member for Transport department James Basumatary flagged off the rally in presence of students from various school, educational institutions and vehicle owners from various parts of the district which was started from DTO office complex via Vivekananda path connecting fly over JD road and ended at the same point. Later, a public meeting was held with Rupak Pujari DTO, Kokrajhar in the chair.
EM James Basumatary while attending the function as chief guest said the Transport department has been planning to organize seminar and workshop on the traffic regulation at school and college levels to create awareness among students and common public in its departmental agenda of this year so that the accidents and unwanted incidents can be avoided.
Rupak Pujari, DTO Kokrajhar, said there were huge accidents happening in the district due to not obeying traffic rules and regulations. He said there is no sufficient road size capacity and parking space as well bus stands in town that is why some times the mishaps could occur.
He told that he had discussed with concerned departmental high officials to widen the roads and parking spaces and to free them from unwanted incidents in the district, he said. Sunil Kumar, SP Kokrajhar, Hemndra Nath Brahma ex-MLA was also attended and addressed the function. |
