MANGALDAI, Jan 7: Setting aside all the rivalry over the party nomination from Congress in the ensuing Panchayat Poll in Darrang district, the Congress has finalized the list of its candidates in the three- tier Panchayati Raj system. Accordingly today a number of candidates for Zilla Parishad, Anchalik Panchayat and Gaon Panchayat have submitted their nomination papers before the authorized officers. Minister of State for Fisheries, Janasanyog cum local legislator Basanta Das along with a large number of party activists today accompanied the four Congress candidates of Zilla Parishad constituencies under Mangaldai LAC in filling their nomination papers. They are Congress Sewa Dal Chief Chandan Barua in Chapai, former Vice Chairman of Darrang Zilla Parishad Dhirada Saikia in Rangamati, District Mahila Congress Committee President Wahida Begum in Dhula and Jayanti Mandal in Mowamari- Puthimari Zilla Parishad Constituency. Till filling of this report, the process of receiving the nomination papers is going on and the figure of submission of nomination papers is yet to be received from the district administration. On the other hand, the AGP candidate for Rangamati Zila Parishad Constituency Kusum Devi has also submitted the nomination paper. The election for electing the representatives in the three- tier Panchayati Raj in Darrang district has been scheduled on February 6 in the second phase and the last date for submission of the nomination papers has been fixed on January 8.
