GUWAHATI, Jan 30: The Prag Cine Award, 2012 will be held at the GMCH Auditorium on April 12, announced Sanjiv Narain, CMD of Prag channel and Nayan Prasad, working president of the Prag Cine Award Organizing Committee at a press meet held here today.
The Prag Cine Awards, instituted in the year 2003, aims at giving support, recognition and inspiration to the Assamese film industry and honour some of the eminent film personalities who have contributed to the cause of Assamese cinema, said the CMD Sanjiv Narain. This year, eminent film personality Biju Phukan will be conferred the prestigious “Lifetime Achievement Award” in recognition of his invaluable contribution towards the cause of Assamese Cinema. Lifetime Achievement Award consists of a cash award of Rs 50,000 along with a trophy and a citation.
Moreover, in order to extend help to the technicians who have contributed immensely to the making of Assamese cinema, the best technicians will be awarded cash of Rs 10,000.
Speaking during the press meet, the organizing committee members said, “ Many Assamese films were produced during the previous year and at least 10 films are in various stages of productions this year. This is a welcome news for Assamese film industry.”
Thirteen films censored in 2012, namely Rawd, Toola Aru Teza, Rishang, Borolar Ghor, Me And My Sister, Bandhan, Duar, Surjasto, Luitok Kune, Adhyay, Aakash Suboloi Mon, Don–Nyi Po–Lo–Essence of life (English) and Ko–Yad (Mising) will be in the fray for the Awards and will be judged by an eminent jury under 23 different Award Categories.
The Organizing Committee further informed that this year’s celebrations will be decked by celebrities like Zubeen Garg, Angarag Mahanta and distinguished artists of both Assamese film industry and Bollywood.
