DONKAMOKAM, Feb 2: Land Settlement Advisory Board (LSAB), a Board under Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) which looks into land issues relating to land disputes, land revenue charges, issuing land pattas in border areas, transferring of land, encroachment, today held its meeting at Donkamokam ARO office, from 11 am in West Karbi Anglong. MS Timung, Rupsing Teron and Alice Engtipi, all EMs of KAAC, Aton Sangma, MAC, Bijoy Teron, Border Development Chairman, Dilip Teron, Deputy Secretary, Rajib Teron, ARO and officers under Donkamokam Revenue Circle along with local leaders and SGBs took part. The EMs also checked some of the documents which were doubtful.
In the meet, Rupsing Teron, EM, said that most of the land owners under Donka Revenue Circle is yet to get patta. So he directed the officers to initiate the work, urgently specially border villages so that pattas are obtained at earliest.
MS Timung, EM KAAC in the meet reiterated the officers concerned not to issue any pattas, before investigating properly. He mentioned that SGBs and Mandals are allured in the hill areas by giving a big cock and a bottle of rice beer, to which they agree to issue NOC. It should be checked, MS Timung said. Alice Engtipi, EM, also briefed the meet.
Bijoy Teron, Chairman Border Development Board, stressed the officers to give more importance to the border areas. He regretted that since past border policy of Assam and Council are weak, due to which people of other States are enable to encroach land.
The ARO of Donka, in the meet mentioned that Rs 28 lakh was received as revenue till today since 2011. The meet was presided over by Babu Rongpi, Chairman LSAB of KAAC.
It can be mentioned that in order to look after the problem of land under the Council, the Board was formed way back in 1976 which was named as Land Reforms Committee.
Later in 1990 again it was renamed as LSAB. |
