DIBRUGARH, Jan 13: The district administration, Forest Department and other organizations in the district are in a deep slumber despite the death of more than two hundred avian species in last two days at Moran area in Dibrugarh district. It is also learnt that the carcass of endangered species like hornbills are also found in the area. The death caused to birds’, people of the locality alleged, probably is due to consumption of insecticide which sprayed in the tea estates in and around the area. It is alleged that the environmental activists or any other NGO’s had not taken any steps to find out the real causes of unnatural death of such a huge numbers of birds in the area. The local people urged upon the Forest Department to take a corrective step and check the bird mortality soon.
