Women Fellowship general convention of Believersí Church concludes

KOKRAJHAR, Jan 11: The Women Fellowship General Convention of Believers’ Church, Diocese of Bongaigaon concluded at Bijay Nagar village in Gossaigaon subdivision on Wednesday.

The Women Fellowship is a part of Believers’ Church ministry overseen by Gisella Yohannan and Jeena Praison at Synod. Accordingly, the Diocese Women Fellowship of Bongaigaon has been actively working in different social spheres to give good social upbringing, empowering widows by providing income-generating livestock, free rural health care with 100 units and adult literacy class with more than 100 units to minimize illiteracy.

The villages covered are mostly in Kokrajhar, Chirang and Baksa. To commemorate these noble steps and to seek more ways and means to uplift people, the Believers’ Church Diocese of Bongaigaon observed the Women Fellowship General Convention.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Juria Bardha, Bishop of Arch Diocese of Kolkata, while attending the inaugural session said, “The Believers’ Church headed by Metropolitan Bishop Dr. KP Yohannan always gives more priority in every aspect of women’s lives and their contribution towards society. Empowering women in terms of health, education, skill will indeed make our nation great.”

On the occasion, to generate income and become financially stable, 400 poor women and widows were given 100 cloth waiver sets, 50 cows, 200 piglets and 200 goats as one-time gift as part of the community development project. Launching the project, Wilburn S. Daimary, SDO of Gossaigaon subdivision said, “The Believers’ Church is doing its best for uplifting the poor sections of our society.”

On the occasion, Bishop Mickel Murmu, the Bishop of Grahampur Dicoese, NELC, Rev Fr. Ajay Tulsiary, the Vicar General, Deborah Raj, Women Fellowship leader from Dhemaji Diocese, Arhyam Babina Lepcha, Women Fellowship leader from Jaigaon Diocese, Kumari Doley, Women Fellowship leader from Tezpur Diocese and 2,500 delegates from different parishes were present.
