| Call for cordial ties between BCPL, contractors |

Our Staff Correspondent DIBRUGARH, March 4: The Brihattar Lepetkatta Borboruah Sramik Surakshya Samitee (BLBSSS) has reacted sharply to the report that the completion of Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) would be delayed by another two months due to the recent labour disturbances. In a statement issued to the press, the organization said that the claim made by the Managing Director of BCPL had no basis. In a press meet held on February 26, the MD, JJ Singh Neotia, work on the project had been affected due to the recent labour problems. “The labour conflict at the BCPL site was the outcome of a conspiracy hatched by contractors companies like RVR and few others presently engaged in the construction of Gas Cracker Project,” the Samitee alleged. It further levelled allegation against the management of BCPL for non implementation of clauses of agreement signed after the round table conference held here at Puskara Bhavan on October 20 last year. The Samitee urged upon the BCPL management to remove the constraints faced by the workers and take effective steps in implementing the directives issued by Union Labour and Employment Ministry on October last year. “We want cordial relations between the contractor companies and BCPL authority so that the work of the mega project is completed in time,” the president of BLBSSS stated. Demanding stern action against all those middlemen and divisive forces who were intent on stalling the construction of BCPL by creating an atmosphere of confusion and fratricidal conflict, the organization also called upon the local workers engaged at BCPL to work with sincerity so that the project is completed on time. |
