TEZPUR, June 28: Troops of Hamesha Aage Brigade of Red Horn Division have been pressed into service to carry out rescue and relief operation in Baksa, Barpeta and Nalbari Districts. Large number of villages in these three districts have been affected due to incessant rains during last two-three days. Six Army columns comprising of 200 army personnel with flood relief equipment have been pressed into rescue and relief operation under the supervision of Brigadier Beant Parmar, Commander, Hamesha Aage Brigade. So far about 70 civilians have been rescued from the villages of Bherberi, Garbhitar, Dhulabari and Balitara and taken to safer places. The Army columns are also assisting the civil administration in carrying relief material like food, water, medicine to the villages marooned in flood water. This was stated in a press release. |
