MANGALDAI, July 3: Every year July 2 has been celebrated as the Kargil Vijay Divas to commemorate the victory of our motherland in the Kargil war. Along with the other troops of army engaged in the Kargil war, the gunners of 315 Field Regiment also proved their efficiency, courage and dedicated service for motherland as they fired 30,000 rounds of fire in foiling the attempt of the enemy. Maj CB Dwibedi and six worthy jawans sacrificed their lives in the war. Gunner Nanda Chanda Singha from Manipur was also among these six swahid jawans. The regiment for their excellent service at the hour of crisis was honoured with the rare honour title of Kargil. Maj Dwibedi and Gunner Nanda Chanda Singha were honoured with the Sena Medal in recognition of their supreme sacrifice. Capt Shashi Bhushan Ghildiyal who has recently taken over as the Commanding Officer of the regiment was also honoured with Veer Chakra. One officer was also honoured with Yudh Sewa Medal while the GOC in C of Northern Command was offered special citation. Synchronizing with the celebration of the Kargil Vijay Divas the office bearers of Mangaldai Media Circle on July 2 met the Commanding Officer Colonel Shashi Bhushan Ghildiyal and all ranks of the unit in their headquarter and greeted them  and offered a citation letter. It may be mentioned here that a popular film titled LOC was based on this Kargil war and actor Rohit  Roy portrayed  the role of Cap Shashi Bhushan Ghildiyal.
