Gossaigaon, July 5: The forest officials of the Kachugaon forest division were attacked recently after the officials seized a timber laden truck. Sources said that the forest officials seized the illegal timber laden truck from Rangapara, south of Haraphuta village of Gossaigaon Sub-division under Kokrajhar district and while returning from Rangapara they were attacked by some miscreants near a railway crossing. The miscreants fired at the officials’ vehicle suddenly but the officials escaped the bullet injuries. Later heavy exchange of fire from both sides took place and after sometime the miscreants fled away from the scene. The incident is strictly condemned by various social, political, student and other organizations and has demanded the Government to take stern action against the miscreants.
