GOSSAIGAON, July 6: The Army in its endeavour to help the civil administration and local populace has been undertaking various civic action programmes each year. Envisaging the likely threat of flood this year, the Army conducted a mock flood relief exercise at Gaurang River in Kokrajhar district in presence of the locals in coordination with the civil administration. The exercise was conducted by the Army to check the level of preparedness in rendering help to civilians in case of floods. It involved evacuating and providing medical assistance to people affected by floods. Before carrying out the exercise, necessary liaison with civil administration, NGOs and other social organizations was also carried out by the Army. The civil administration also accorded its cooperation to the Army. The exercise was effective in setting up basic requirement for conduct of flood relief. The overall conduct of mock exercise was successful in reviewing the role of each individual and checking level of preparedness. The locals also expressed their satisfaction over the level of alertness of Army in tackling any eventuality. |
