Three culprits of Beliprabha murder case apprehended

From our Correspondent

BONGAIGAON, July 8: Three culprits of Beliprabha Devi murder case of June 24 in Tilapara Dewangaon area of Boitamary area of Bongaigaon district had been nabbed last night by Bongaigaon Police. These culprits were identified as Rajat Nath (32), Nepal Nath (36) and Kandarpa Nath (19).

Beliprabha had been murdered by miscreants in the night of June 24 when she was sleeping with her nephew Dipjyoti Nath (10). The miscreants entered into the house by breaking the window and took her outside forcefully. In the morning of June 25, her naked body had been recovered in a solitary place in their campus backside of her house. It has been suspected that she had been raped and murdered.

Nitul Gogoi, SP, Bongaigaon said that after preliminary investigation, police had came to the conclusion that the reason behind the murder is property clash. Police started investigation over the matter.

On June 29, Kandarpa Nath, a relative of Beliprabha, had surrendered himself to Bongaigaon Police. He confessed that he murdered Beliprabha on that night. Police had taken him under custody for three days and started interrogation. After this interrogation and as per confession of Kandarpa, police arrested Nepal Nath and Rajat Nath last night from their home at Boitamary area of Bongaigaon.

Kandarpa said that Rajat Nath assured him and Nepal to pay Rs 50,000 for this murder. “He said that if we can kill Beliprabha then he will pay us Rs 50,000. He went to Kerala and said us to commit this murder when he shall be in Kerala. So, in that night we drank wine and after that Nepal and I went to her home and murdered her,” Kandarpa confessed.

Police source said that Rajat wanted to capture all the property of Beliprabha. As Beliprabha had not got married and her brother with whom she lived was also a mentally weak person, hence Rajat tried to capture all the property forcefully. The quarrel finally pulled them to the floor of Gaon Panchayat at a time before her murder.

All the three culprits had been sent to jail in today evening. OC, Bongaigaon police station said that Rajat is the main culprit of this murder and he instigated the other two persons for this murder.
