HOJAI, July 11: Nagaon Deputy Commissioner Dr P Ashok Babu today distributed Cheques of Rs 1.5 lakh each as ex-gratia to the families of Mun Mun Das and Dhanraj Kemprai who died in floods in a meeting held at a Auditorium in Hojai.
The meeting was attended by Irrigation and Soil Conservation Minister of Assam, Dr Ardhendu Kr Dey, Hojai SDO(civil), Biswajit Pegu, Inspector of Schools, Nagaon, Anisul Choudhury.
Dr P Ashok Babu said that six persons died in Nagaon district in the recent floods out of which two persons are from Hojai sub-division.
He also added that a part from the ex- gratia amount of Rs 1.5 lakh, each of the two families of the deceased would get another Rs 1 lakh from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and also Rs 1 lakh from Prime Minister Relief Fund.
Dr Ardhendu Kr Dey who was also present in the cheque distribution ceremony handed over the cheques of Rs 1 lakh to 44 Government High schools of the sub-division for publishing annual school Magazines, sports and organization of youth festival .
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ardhendu Dey said that government over the years has taken a number of schemes for the upgradation of education in the State and as result of which performances of schools students as well have enhanced.
Anisul Choudhury, Inspector of Schools, Nagaon said that a competition would be conducted among the schools for publishing their annual magazines of Hojai Sub-division every year and the best three schools would be awarded by the government.
Many people gathered in the meeting expressed their gratitude to the Nagaon Deputy-Commissioner for early release of ex-gratia amounts to the families of Mun Mun Das and Dhanraj Kemprai. |
