NALBARI, Aug 5: Barama is one of the important places in Baksa district. It is worth mentioning that the district headquarter camp was set up at Barama temporarily when the newly formed district Baksa was announced. According to the report, the two district level offices mainly police superintendent’s office, Baksa and DC’s office, Baksa started at Barama soon after BTC Government was formed later on, the two major district level offices were shifted to Mushalpur. Barama is situated on the river Marapagaladia and the 31 No. National Highway is running through Barama.

There are a good number of offices at Barama as the road communication is very easy from all corners. The headquarter of 12 No. Kumaon Regiment, the CRPF office, 30 bedded hospital, Mission School, PWD (R) subdivision office, 1st ASRF battalion headquarter office, Barjhar, child development project office, ASEB office, Block Development office, Block Elementary Education office, veterinary hospital, schools, colleges were established in greater Barama.

But it is matter of great regret that the employees working in those offices have  to face great hardship because of non-availability of State Bank of India, branch  at Barama. The branch of Assam Gramin Bikash Bank is no longer in a position to meet the needs of customers and employees working in those offices in particular and people in the  greater area in general. People of Barama area have  to go either to Nalbari or Mushalpur for this purpose. People or employees  generally have to go to Nalbari particularly to draw salary from the ATM.

Barama AASU, Barama  ABSU,  Barama AJYCP unit, Barama Business Organization demanded the authority concerned to set up a branch of SBI at Barama to get rid of the hardship and difficulties.
