Goalpara, August 7 : Just one week after a powerful IED blast killed 1 army and injured 6 others, the news of recovery of another IED has created sensation in Goalpara district. According to the police sources, a joint patrolling team of Goalpara and Kharmuja police noticed a black bag at Hadlapara, NH-37, just 200 meter away from the spot of last week’s blast side. The patrolling team immediately informed the nearby Army camp suspecting that there might be some explosive element.
On reaching the spot, the army team confirmed about the presence of explosives and called on the army bomb disposal expert. The bomb squad later defused the IED present inside the bag and also found one ‘bomb placing map’, a general diary, empty magazine, battery and a pairs of slipper. The two words ‘Sunami Axom’ was inscribed in the diary.
It is significant that a team of seven ULFA cadres have reportedly entered Goalpara for subversive activities prior to the Independence Day at the direction of ULFA leader Dristi Rajkhowa. Meanwhile, police has beefed up security measures to counter any untoward incident in the district. |
