From our Correspondent Nagaon, Aug 7: Around 41000 hectares of land belonging to a Sattra have been encroached upon by suspected Bangladeshis. The Axom Astitwa Raksha Sangrami Mancha (AARSM) and the Hindu Yuva Chatra Parishad, Assam (HYCP) recently urged the State Government to take immediate action in order to free the 41000 hectares of Sattra land from encroachment by the suspected Bangladeshis. In a joint statement Brajen Kakoti president HYCP and Rajen Borkakoti, president AARSM alleged that vote bank politics had prevented the State Government from taking any steps to save the sattra land from the infiltrators. Even a High court order to keep the sattra land free from encroachment has also been defied by the government, they alleged. These suspected Bangladeshis have also encroached upon forest lands of different reserve forests including Kaziranga National Park, Lawkhowa Wildlife Sanctuary, Manas and Pabitora, the organizations said.
