NAGAON, Jan 7: A Consumers’ awareness meeting was organized here recently by Nagaon Upabhokta Suraksha Parishad in Collaboration with the district administration under the presidentship of Amitabh Rajkhowa, Additional DC, Nagaon. In the meeting, I Islam, Deputy Director, Food and Civil supplies, Nagaon explained the objective of the meeting while Rajen Barkakoti, president of Nagaon Upabhokta Suraksha Parishad appealed to the people to assert their legal rights provided under the Consumers’ protection act and to create awareness among fellow citizens for proper implementation of the Act. He also urged the Government to appoint the chairmen and members in all the 23 District consumers’ grievances Redressal Forum at the earliest. Safiur Rahman, Joint secretary of the Parishad also addressed the meeting.
