Janmashtami celebrated with gaiety

JORHAT, Sept 13: Janmashtami was celebrated with pomp and gaiety in almost all naamghars throughout the district of Jorhat. Several hundreds of bhaktas and devotees thronged the Dhekiakhowa Bornaamghar and Moinaporia Naamghar on the occasion.
Bhaktas attended special prayer session from 9 am to 12 pm. After lighting the earthen lamps, bhaktas and devotees prayed to Lord Krishna for fulfilment of their wishes. At least one member from every family tries to visit the historic Dhekiakhowa Bornaamghar during this holy month of Bhado, said Pravin Kalita, the president of Dhekiakhowa Bornaamghar management committee.
Devotees from throughout the State as well as Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and other States were seen pouring in every day during this holy month and the naamghar committee had organized three special prayer sessions. All together 233 local volunteers and members of Teok Mondal BJP are assisting in various during this month of Bhado as well as providing free mineral water to the devotees assembled here, said the president of the management committee.
