New body of co-operative society formed

DHUBRI, Sept 12: A 15-member new body of Dhubri Whole Sale Consumers’ Co-operative Society was formed recently. Election was held after completion of tenure of the outgoing body. Ali Hussain became the chairman of the society securing 544 votes while Kalyan Purkayatha was elected vice-chairman with 529 votes. Election was held for six posts as nine members were elected uncontested in the 15-member body. Total 867 members cast their votes out of 3,200 members and elected the body. Other members who have been elected are Tazmul Haque, Moimuddin Sheikh, Manju Sheikh and Ranendra Nath Bhattacharjee. Rarendra Nath Bhattacharjee, a member of the board of directors, informed that the new body would soon take over the charge of the board after getting approval from the State Government, and initiate the development of society benefiting consumers.
