AKRSU (H) holds mass gathering, reiterates demand for ST status

 From our Correspondent
Bongaigaon, Sept 12: The All Koch- Rajbongshi Students’ Union (Hiteswar Barman faction) held a mass gathering on Tuesday in Borpapra Public field of Bongaigaon to demand separate Kamatapur state and ST categorization of Koch-Rajbongshi community.
Addressing the gathering, Hiteswar Barman said that the land of historical Kamatapur was now under the rule of the Assam and Bengal governments. “But we can’t live under any other government. Hence, we have to form Kamatapur immediately and for this we will launch massive agitation in the coming days. Also, we cannot assure that the agitation will be democratic,” he said.
Barman also mentioned that the BJP government had cheated the Koch-Rajbongshi community. “They assured us to give ST categorization but yet did nothing. We demand that all six communities should be given ST status soon,” he said. Several leaders, including MP Hira Saraniya, Atul Ray and leaders of Moran Students’ Union and Motok Students’ Union attended the mass gathering.
