Ferry services to Majuli remain suspended

 From a Correspondent

JORHAT, Aug 12: There has been slight change in the water level of the Brahmaputra but water current is high with river tides. The Neematighat PWD approach road has been inundated at two places. As the river is flowing above danger level, ferry services to and from Majuli continue to remain suspended, said Central Water Commission (CWC) sources on Saturday.
CWC sources said people in and around Neematighat area have been asked to remain alert. Majuli remains cut off from the rest of the world since 24 hours. The water level is flowing above the danger mark at Pasighat, Dibrugarh, Jhanjimukh, Neematighat and Kamalabari. The water level recorded in the five areas shows unpredictable trend which means that the water level might also increase following continuous rainfall in the upstream areas of the River Brahmaputra.
