Itanagar, Aug 12: The Arunachal Pradesh State Transports Service (APSTS) has been awarded the best performing North Eastern State Road Transport Undertaking (SRTU) in the recently held National Public Transport Excellence Awards this year. The award was conferred to the APSTS during a two-day international conference cum award function which was organized by Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASRTU) at the Manekshaw Centre here on Friday.
APSTS general manager, Abu Tayeng, who received the award on behalf of the department, said that the State’s transport department had been chosen for the award due its performance and innovative ideas, which in turn had improved the transport services in the State.
The APSTS has of late launched several vehicles for far flung areas and circle headquarters across the State especially where bus services are not reachable. In order to make ticketing convenient for the passengers, the department is also all set to launch E-ticketing apps.
Meanwhile, Tayeng has extended his gratitude to chief minister Pema Khandu and parliamentary secretary for transport Likha Saaya for their support and guidance.
