GUWAHATI, March 8: A team from Gauhati University Workmen’s Union (GUWU) has handed over a sum of Rs. 45,000 towards the CM Relief Fund. Handing over the cheque to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at his office chamber on Wednesday, GUWU president Pradip Rajbongshi submitted a memorandum to him urging the State Government to look into the GU Amendment Act, 2013. Following implementation of the Act, nearly 500 budgeted posts are lying vacant in GU against a total 1,350 sanctioned posts, the Union said. Rajbongshi, on behalf of the non-teaching employees, requested the Chief Minister to take necessary steps for reviewing the Act.
