Sporty Children's Day

GUWAHATI, Nov 14: Breaking the typecast this year the especially-abled children of the city were seen celebrating the Children’s Day in a sporty way on Tuesday on the premises of Shishu Sarothi, Guwahati.
Speaking to this reporter, Programme Manager of Shishu Sarothi  Emilly Dey said, “In the previous years, cultural themes brought some challenges to the specially-abled children to enjoy the occasion. So, this year we’ve chosen sports as the theme.”
“Various activities were included in today’s programme, like balloon printings, balloon race, music chair and hungry bird. We also gave away refreshments and gifts to children at the end of the programme,” Dey added.
Public Affairs Officer of US Consulate General Jamie Dragon delivered a speech for the children where he praised Shishu Sarothi for taking this initiative to bring the missing colours back to the especially-abled children. He said it has given him immense pleasure to be at Shishu Sarothi and spend some time with the especially-abled children.
Singer Nasrin Sultana gifted the children with a cake and kept them enthralled with her numbers.
The city also witnessed Children’s Day celebrations by other schools, both government and private ones.
