Middle order take Assam to a decent total

GUWAHATI, Nov 10: Rode on three good knocks Assam today scored 279-6 in their first innings against Uttar Pradesh (UP) in the Ranji Trophy tie at ACA stadium here today. Opener Rishav Das (52) and middle order batsman Sibsankar Roy (72) scored half century while Amit Sinha (48) also contributed well with the bat.
Assam started the day’s proceeding from their overnight score 25-0. Opener Rahul Hazarika (28) gave good company to Rishav until he got out on team’s total 76. Rishav too followed him 22 runs later. The right handed batsman faced 66 balls and hit 9 boundaries during his 52 runs innings.
Assam today made a couple of changes in the batting order and sent Kunal Saikia on number four position. However the decision didn’t work as Kunal returned on his individual score 19 and when captain Gokul Sharma (9) too returned quickly and it looked like that once again the innings wouldn’t lust too long.
But Sibsankar repaired the damage nicely and he got good support from Amit Sinha. The duo added 86 runs on the fifth wickets partnership. Sibsanakar (72, 13X4) could easily reached three figure marks today unless he chased a wide delivery to give a regular catch practice to Akashdeep who was standing at first slip.  Amit too followed him three runs later.
Pallav Das (10) and Sarupam Purkayastha (34) are on the wicket when the match was called off little early because of poor light.
