Nagaon police nabs 3 rhino poachers

NAGAON (HAIBORGAON). Nov 10: Following the incident of recovery of large cache of arms and ammunitions including AK 47 rifle, 303 rifle and other objectionable materials from a Hyundai Getz car at Haiborgaon traffic point, in connection with the incident, Nagaon police with the aid of Assam Rifles on Thursday night was able to apprehend three hardcore rhino poachers from Kohima in Nagaland.
According to the sources of police, they have been identified as Thangsao Liyang (24),SaoSiang Mungpin (32) of Nagaland and Lal Singha (40) of Mizuram. The sources here added that all of them belonged to Mizu community and were professional shooter. They were brought to Kaziranga National Park for rhino poaching by a gang of rhino horn smugglers. Interestingly, on Wednesday evening, the gang of rhino poachers was coming from Guwahati to Kaziranga National Park with a mission to poach rhino. But when they reached near Haiborgaon traffic point, the traffic police on duty signaled their vehicle to stop. The gang abandoned the vehicle there and managed to escape from the scene. Later Nagaon police raided the vehicle and was able to recover all those huge cache of arms and ammunitions and other objectionable materials from the vehicle.
