TANGLA, Dec 7: “Dr BR Ambedkar was the architect of modern India. He shaped the Indian society by formulation of amendment for the cause of the oppressed and exploited classes of Indian society. Without him, we cannot imagine a modern India.” This was observed by Tridip Daimari, Speaker of BTC assembly, here at the open session of the 62nd death anniversary of Dr. Ambdekar, the Father of the Indian Constitution, which was organized by the Udalguri district committee of All Assam Scheduled Caste Students’ Union in association with the Udalguri regional committee of the organization on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Daimari hoped that the immortal ideologies of Ambedkar would be kept alive in true spirit with reverence by the people of the country. The open session chaired by Harekrishna Mandal, adviser of Udalguri district committee of the students’ organization, was inaugurated by Gopal Sarkar, president of the Udalguri district committee ,which was addressed by AK Mayura, president of All India BC Front, New Delhi and former member of UP Public Service Commission, Tarini Chran Das, zonal secretary of SC/ST Railway Employees’ Union, NF Railway, Dr. Harendra Ch. Das, former director of education of Assam, P Soren, secretary, OBC association, Udalguri district committee, among many others who highlighted the life and philosophy of Dr. Ambedkar. Earlier, Dithakananda Hazarika, subdivisional officer (civil) of Bhergaon subdivision, flagged off the cultural procession. The day-long programme of the death anniversary got underway in the morning with cleanliness drive in the town.
