AGMA stages road blockade

FROM A CORRESPONDENT
JOYSAGAR, Oct 11: Ahom Gana Mancha, Assam (AGMA), Sivasagar district committee staged a road blockade in the Haluating area under Amguri PS on Tuesday against the various anti-social activities in the area.
AGMA leaders criticized the Sivasagar district administration for its ‘failure’ to check various crimes and also smuggling along the Assam-Nagaland border. AGMA also alleged that police inaction had led to rise in the number of anti-social and criminal activities. Moreover, through the border corridor illegal Arunachali  liquor and other narcotic items and timber, coal, crude oil and scrap iron were being smuggled, alleged the AGMA leaders. The activists blocked the Amguri-Haluating road via Sivasagar town for about three hours. Later, Amguri SDO and Sivasagar ASP reached the spot and held a discussion with the leaders. AGMA submitted a memorandum to the Amguri SDO seeking quick intervention in these matters.
