Dima Hasao Congress blows poll bugle at Maibang

From a Correspondent
Haflong, Nov 14: As the election to the NC Hills Autonomous Council is nearing, the Dima Hasao District Congress (I) has started its election preparedness by organizing pada yatra at Maibang on Monday. The pada yatra  started from zero point of Maibang and marched through the main thoroughfares of Maibang town and converged at the Kali Temple. Former minister Khorshing Engti, former MLA from Lumding, Swapan Kar  and APCC secretary Samsong Engti, Dima Hasao district Congress president Nirmal Langthasa along with other Congress leaders of the district took part in the pada yatra. The pada yatra was aimed at creating political awareness among the rural masses.
This was followed by a meeting wherein all the speakers detailed the activities of Congress and also appealed to the people of the district to be judicious when they choose their leaders. They should not be misguided by the false propaganda of the BJP and other political parties.
Talking to the media, former minister Khorshing Engti said, “We are here in Maibang wherein as many as 10 NCHAC constituencies are there and the election to the NCHAC is nearing. Our party has to win as the BJP has lost people’s confidence because the BJP could not bring ‘change’ as was promised. Here in Dima Hasao, the people are facing many problems. Salary problem has become the prime one. In our time also there was salary problem but we solved it many times.”
Dima Hasao DCC president Nirmal Langthasa said, “The people have lost confidence in the BJP-ruled NCHAC and this will be seen in the coming election. People are very much with us and they will give us absolute majority in the election, therefore we demand that the NCHAC election should be held on time.”
