Forest Minister's effigy burnt at Golaghat

Golaghat (Dhekial), Nov 10: The members Golaghat District Regional Students’ Union burnt the effigy of State Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma on Friday at Bezbaruah Point in Golaghat town in protest against the rampant killing of rhinos at Kaziranga National Park. The activists of the organization gathered at Bezbaruah Point in Golaghat town and raised various slogans against the Sarbananda Sonowal-led BJP government as well as the State Forest Department for failing to protect the one- horned rhinoceros at Kaziranga National Park.
 Talking to the media persons, the president and secretary of the organization Angshuman Baruah and Simanta Jyoti Gogoi slammed the State Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma for not being able to stop the killing of rhinos in Kaziranga National Park and they demanded immediate resignation from the post of Forest Minister. They said that within five days as many as four rhinos were killed. This incident of rampant killing of Rhinos  at Kaziranga Nation Park has clearly indicated that the Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma and Sarbananda Sonowal BJP government totally failed to protect Assam pride one-horn rhino. “If the government did not take any initiative in protecting the rhinos in due time, then they will go for strike,” the leader of AASU said. They demanded that the government should take adequate initiative to protect the rhinos at any cost. President of Golaghat Sub Division Students’ Union Jadumoni Gogoi and executive member of Golaghat AASU Prince Doley took part in the protest.
