Majuli, Nov 13: Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi on Monday assured the people of Assam that the state’s territorial integrity would not be compromised at any cost. Talking to the media at Majuli, the executive head of the State Prof Mukhi, who is on a day long visit to the island district of Majuli today, reiterated his Government’s stand on the issue of Assam’s territorial integrity.
The Assam Governor Prof. Mukhi arrived at Majuli this morning from Jorhat and was given warm welcome by the district administration. Later, chairing a meeting with the district administration in the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Majuli, Governor took a review of developmental activities along with the various government schemes being implemented for the welfare of all sections of the people in the island district. He also directed the administration to take special initiatives to ensure that all the government schemes should reach the lowest level of the public in the district. Urging the officers to change the traditional style of functioning in the government offices, Prof. Mukhi said, “Officers must have good strategy to get the work done. Lack of commitment & will power have spoiled the environment in our government offices. Our officers will have to be totally committed and pursue the things regularly.” The Governor also told the officers posted in Majuli district that they were entrusted with a very special job.
Later, the Governor interacted with the district Swachh Bharat Mission team and expressed his satisfaction over the successful implementation of SBM (G) in Majuli. Prof. Mukhi also had interaction with the local civil society representatives at the conference hall of DC Office. During the day long visit, the Governor of Assam also visited two prominent Xatras of Majuli, namely Garamur Xatra & Uttar Kamalabari Xatra. In Garamur Xatra, Prof. Mukhi took part in prayer with the Deka Xatradhikar and the disciples of the Xatra.
