International Women's Day celebrated across State

Dibrugarh, March 8: Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) celebrated International Women’s Day with a day long programme on Thursday in the Administrative Building. Deputy Commissioner of Dibrugarh  Laya Madduri was the Chief Guest on the occasion.  Madduri spoke at length about today’s world  where women are outshining in every field and occupying the senior positions in many organisations. She praised the spirit of woman who strongly overcomes any hurdles that comes on her way to achieve success.
 Managing Director of BCPL A K Singh,  also spoke on IWD 2018 theme “Press for Progress” and emphasized commitment towards a “gender parity mindset” via progressive action. A session on Healthy Lifestyle by Dr.Anwesha Dutta Gogoi, consultant dietician & Nutrionist was also organised for the women employees. On the occasion Dr. Dutta elaborated as to how to cope with stress and adopt a healthy lifestyle amidst a busy schedule of work life balance.
In the afternoon session a  workshop on Self Defence and Fitness was also demonstrated by Rupak Adhikari, an certified instructor from KRAV MAGA(an Israeli self defense system) as  the resource person for the session.

TANGLA, March 8:  Along with the rest of the world, the International Women’s Day was celebrated at Bordoloi Bhawan hall in Tangla on Thursday. The programme organised to demand improvement in the lives of women and ensuring that they are given their rightful place in society was held under the aegis of Udalguri district committee All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU). An open session was also held which was inaugurated by social worker Pratima Boro where she underlined the importance of equality and social justice for women.
The session presided over by Rangjali Daimari, was attended as chief guest by Bodo litterateur Dr. Rita Baro. Speaking on the occasion she said  that it is the duty of every individual to ensure that women are given their due rights and are treated with equality, respect and dignity in society.  The President of All Bathaou Mahasabha, Sansoli B. Boro, Udalguri ABSU Vice-President Ananda Daimari also spoke on the need of ensuring economic empowerment and security to the lives of women. A large number of women and students from various part of Udalguri attended the session.
Joysagar:  Along with the rest of the country, International Women’s Day was observed on Thursday in Sivasagar and its sub urban areas too. The Sivasagar District Mahila Samiti in collaboration with the Sri Sati Radhika Nari Seva Kendra ( an organization undertaken by the Axom Xatra Mahashabha) observed the day with a day-long programme in  Sivasagar Lions Club auditorium situated in Amolapatty area. Besides, Jaya Mahila Sara of greater Joysagar area has also observed the day in the office premises in Bordwar area of Joysagar.
Axom Jatia Mahila Parisad also observed the  day with a variety of programmes in Rudrasagar area near Bhatiapara with the help of the Asom Jatiatabadi Yuba- Chatra Parasad, Rudrasagar Regional Committee.
KOKRAJHAR: The International Women’s Day was celebrated by various organizations and NGOs in different places of Kokrajhar district with pomp and gaiety. There were various cultural and sporting activities for the women besides deliberation on the issues of the women.
The NEDAN Foundation celebrated the day at Weaving Destination Campus, Onthaigwlao near Kokrajhar in collaboration with Kokrajhar district administration. NERSWN NGO, based at Kokrajhar, observed the day at its complex at Jwmwipuri near BB Engineering College, Kokrajhar. The Women wing of BPF observed the day at Bishmuri while women wing of the United People’s Party, Liberal (UPPL) observed it at Rupnath Brahma Memorial Field, Ramfalbil with various game competitions among the women.
 BTC Chief  Hagrama Mohilary attended the celebration of International Women’s Day by Women Wing BPF at Bishmuri as chief guest while former Rajya Sabha MP UG Brahma, social activist Pratibha Brahma and BTC MCLA Jatirindra Brahma attended the programme organized by Women Wing UPPL at Rupnath Brahma Memorial Field, Ramfalbil.
Bongaigaon: Women’s Day was celebrated in Bongaigaon on Thursday in Priya Gupta Memorial hall by NF Railway Mazdoor Union and Hind Mazdoor Sabha jointly. In this regard, a meeting was organized where several noted person were present.
TINSUKIA: The International Women’s Day was observed at Women’s College Tinsukia with day-long programme on Thursday. Organized by ACTA Tinsukia Zone in association with Women’s College Teachers’ unit in collaboration with NSS, WSDC, IQAC of Women’s College, the events witnessed procession, two street plays, besides holding a seminar on ‘Sexual Harassment at workplace and eve teasing- legal protection and provisions’. The seminar was addressed by Dipon Baruah of Legal Studies, DU. Earlier, Dr Rajib Bordoloi, Principal of Women’s College welcomed the guest in the seminar while Dr Tanushree Sarkar, coordinator of Women’s Cell offered vote of thanks.
