DC assures strict action

 Bank cashier murder

From our correspondent

Itanagar, Feb 9: East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak has said the district administration will leave no stone unturned to nab those involved in the murder of Mebo Rural Bank cashier Bomge Nyori.

Nyori was found dead in a pool of blood inside the bank in Mebo on Wednesday. The bank’s locker keys were missing, and the assailants had made away with the CCTV cameras installed in the bank. Nyori is survived by his wife and two children.

Interacting with members of the All East Siang District Students’ Union (AESDSU) and the Karko Ao Welfare Association (KAWA) here on Thursday, the DC said investigation has been initiated to nab those involved in the cold-blooded murder.

“On Thursday night when I came to know that Nyori was brutally killed, I along with SP Prashant Gautam and ADC Taddo Borang rushed to the spot,” the DC said. The DC expressed dismay over the dilapidated condition of the bank, which is also without security personnel. “The bank authorities should take appropriate steps to modernize and secure their branches in the district,” he said. Meanwhile, SP Prashant Gautam, who is personally monitoring the investigation, said investigation officer B Pait is making all-out efforts to crack the murder case.

“If necessary, the case may be handed over to a senior officer, such as the Pasighat PS OC,” he said.

He said the incident should not be given a communal colour.

Expressing confidence that the police would identify and arrest the culprit(s) within a short period, he appealed to the people to help the police in tracing the criminal(s).
