Itanagar, Nov 14: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday said that his government will soon hand over the public distribution system (PDS) scam to the CBI.
Addressing a public meeting at Taliha constituency in Upper Subansiri district during his maiden visit to the constituency, Khandu said the chief secretary has been instructed to study the matter and to prepare all paper works related to PDS misappropriation for it to be recommended to the CBI to investigate the case, an official stated.
The chief minister said when the Congress was in power, it never bothered to investigate on the scam.
“It is only after the BJP coming into power, the State government is serious to unearth the people behind the scam,” he said.
Khandu said lack of proper policy has made the State government unable to utilize its resources to generate revenue.
“The State was under the Congress rule for long time and in those day people suffered for lack of attention from the Centre. But now with an able leadership in the Centre, the State is receiving support,” he said and added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit the State soon to announce some big projects.
Speaking on the achievements of his government, the chief minister said the government had announced creation of Kamle district that was a long pending issue. He said the foundation stone for the district would be laid in December.
He added that the state government was able to make the Lower Siang functional that had remained non-functional since its creation for many years.
Khandu said Taliha constituency didn’t receive any benefits from BADP and Urban Development schemes. He, however, promised to give special attention to the constituency and said that in the current financial year, the area would have adequate schemes of not less than Rs 50 crore.
Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju along with Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and BJP state president Tapir Gao also accompanied the chief minister. The Union Minister also announced to provide BSNL 3G Internet connectivity for Taliha constituency, including road communication up to Taksing by December next year.
