Itanagar, Dec 7: Along with the rest of the country, the Armed Forces Flag Day was observed at Raj Bhawan here on Thursday where Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) DR B D Mishra along with his wife donated towards the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. Exhorting the officers and staff of the Raj Bhawan to generously contribute towards the fund, the Governor said: “Since 1949, December 7 is being observed as the Armed Forces Flag Day throughout the country in the honour of the martyrs and the men in uniform, who have valiantly fought for the defence of the Nation. Mishra, who himself is a war veteran, paid tribute to the brave and gallant heroes of the Armed forces who have laid down their lives in the service of the country during various wars and military operations.
“Flag Day provide us an opportunity to discharge our obligation of looking after the disabled comrades-in-arms, vir naris and dependents of those who have sacrificed their lives for the country,” the Governor said.
“Let us remember and acknowledge the valiant sacrifices and dedicated services rendered by the personnel of Army, Navy and Air Force,” he added.
The Armed Forces Flag Day Team of Raj Bhawan, Itanagar collected contributions from Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Chief Secretary Satya Gopal ,among others .The money has been credited to Armed Forces Fund.
