VAASTU AND VEDIC RULES DURING NAVRATRA
Hemanta Kumar Sarmah

The nine days starting from the 1st day of the moon in the month of Aswin are very auspicious and most of the people in Northern and Western India observe this period. It is believed if there a conflict between the partners, then they should during these navratras, recite this mantra and pour ghee in the fire 108 times. You can even chant this mantra 21 times daily in the morning while praying. If possible then both partners should recite the mantra together.

The mantra is:

Sab nar karhi paraspar priti chalhi swadharm nirat shruti niti

For the whole nine navratras, one should go to a Laxmi Narayan Mandir (Temple) in the evening and prasad of besan laddoos (Yellow Sweets) should be offered to God. This will soon overcome the difference of mind confrontation between the partners.

In case, there remains a conflict of opinion among majority of family members, then it is advised that all family members should visit a sacred place or Tirthsthan for peace and happiness.

If one of the partners is of aggressive nature and remains angry most of the times, then one should light an oil lamp below a peepal tree in its roots starting from the very first Saturday falling during these Navratra.

In case of a Vaastu Dosh, one should light a guggul and take it in all rooms of the house early in the morning. Guggul is a flowering plant found in North India and is used for medicinal purposes in Ayurveda. This removes the bad omen of any ghost / obstacle from the house.

It is very good to recite the mantra Om Mitray Namah early in the morning and offering water to God Surya in a mug (lota) made of Copper. It removes all evils and creates a peaceful atmosphere at home between all the members of the family.

Daily blowing the shankh (Sea shell) at home and playing / listening of Gayatri mantra destroys the causes of house unrest. An aarti can be performed by all family members in the evening during Navratra. It generates a positive energy and increase the love and bonding between family members.

If the conflict between the family members are getting worse day by day, then it is advised that on the very first Tuesday of the navratra, prayers should be offered to Lord Hanumanji and jalebis should be offered as prasad. These jalebis should be distributed among kids and family members later on.

Sometimes, people from outside are responsible for the conflict between partners. Then it is advised that from the day one of navratra, take a handful of black mustard seeds in the hand , rotate it from your head and facing towards south direction, throw them in all directions.

VAASTU CORRECTION WITH TULSI (BASIL):

Navratra is a very good time to plant tulsi. Wherever there is a vaastu defect, tulsi plant can be planted. In apartments, tulsi plants should be kept in balcony or window sills to remove negative energies. In Assam also, there is a tradition of planting a tulsi plant and lighting an oil lamp in the evening in the month of Kartik.
