Colourful annual function of RSAG

MANGALDAI, January 2: Ranjit Sarma Academy Group (RSAG), a premier institution of education in Mangaldai, celebrated its 14th annual function with a four–day colourful program that witnessed active participation of enthusiastic students, teachers, guardians and well wishers.

The RSAG was founded by Girindra Kumar Sarma with the humble intention to provide quality education to the students of the district under the care and guidance of dedicated and committed teachers to create a healthy academic environment in the district. Today, the Academy has been able to create a separate identity for its service in the field of education.

Various interesting competitions like story–telling, on–the–spot poetry writing, extempore speech, drawing, recitation of patriotic poems, one act play, creative modern dance with decent dress code, singing and quiz marked the annual function. Students from all the classes took part with great zeal to showcase their hidden talents. Principal of RASG Girindra Kumar Sarma earlier iugurated the function by unfurling the flag of the school followed by homage paying by Dr. Kamala Kanta Sarma and tree plantation by a senior guardian Puspa Kanta Saharia.

The RSAG, in a unique initiative, organized a colourful cultural function on the closing day instead of the typical public meeting and felicitated eminent exponent of Ojhapali of Darrang 96–year–old Sangeet tak Academy award recipient Ki Ram th in recognition of his rare and immense contribution to the Darrangi folk culture.

Taking part in the felicitation function as the guest of honour,  eminent jourlist and Executive Editor of Assamese daily ‘Amar Asom’ Prasanta Rajguru described Ki Ram th Ojha as the VK Ayenger of Assam and also offered his deepest respect to this nogerian persolity. Expressing serious concern on the severe crisis of leaders with leadership quality in the local areas, Rajguru in his speech made a fervent appeal to the students to inculcate leadership qualities so that the society could be led towards the positive thoughts and actions. “Only through literacy, the prevalent evils and ideas like witch hunting, untouchability etc could be wiped out from the society,” added Rajguru.

Mention may be made here that Bijoya Bora, a guardian of a student of the school, offered two awards to the best students of the school in memory of his younger brother while all the rank holders in the HSLC and HSSLC examition from the RSAG were also felicitated during the programme.

The RSAG at present has been successfully maging the Ranjit Sarma Academy and Kendriya Jatiya Vidyala at Mangaldai with the total enrollment of about 1300 students from both the districts of Darrang and Udalguri.
