Silver jubilee programme

SHILLONG, January 2: North Eastern Service of All India Radio Shillong which started on 3rd January 1990 will be celebrating its silver jubilee tomorrow. In its 25 years of existence, the service has undergone many changes. NES was created to integrate NE states and displaying the culture of NE on a common platform. Prior to the introduction of North–Eastern Service of AIR Shillong, the residents of NE States used to tune in to Radio stations of Nepal, Bangladesh and Chi on short wave on their Radio sets. But NE Service provided them great relief as they could listen AIR News and programmes of different North Eastern states through NE Service of AIR Shillong.
