’Barak Art Fair?2015’ to begin on Jan 6; preparations going on in full swing

  SILCHAR, January 3: The members of Barak Art and Craft Society have geared up to make ‘Barak Art Fair–2015’ that will be held here from January 6 to January 11 on Bipin Paul meeting ground located near Circuit House a grand success. The preparations are going on in full swing for the fair.

  Though, Art and Craft Society has been organising art fair and exhibition for the last seventeen years, but this time they are going to hold the event in a grand way.

   A reception committee has been constituted already with the well–known social activist Angshukumar Roy as the president. Dr. Rajdeep Roy has been elected as the general secretary. Madhu Obadia and Pradip Acharjee have been selected as vice president and joint secretary respectively. Gautam Ghosh and Sagar Roy have been made treasurers. Besides, a few others are there in the committee.

    The organisers said that with a view to provide a platform to the talented artistes of the region in general and Barak Valley in particular they are organising the event. They said that many renowned and intertiolly acclaimed artistes will participate in the Barak Art Fair and the younger generation of this region will get encouraged when their works would get a place near the works of acclaimed artistes.

   The joint secretary Pradip Acharjee said that considering the business point of view, they would keep a few paintings for sale. The workshop on paper making and clay works will also be organised in the six day long fair. The founder of Nirupama Academy Handmade Paper of Kolkata Anupam Chakraborty will conduct the workshop. Besides, tiol level art competition, Rabindra dance, classical dance, sit and draw, art and sculpture based quiz competition, talk show, semir, cultural programmes and a fashion show will be held in the fair.

  The artistes from various parts of the Northeast will take part in the tiol level art contest. Anyone one above 16 years of age can participate in the contest. A panel of well–known five artists of the country will act as judges for the competition. The enrollment procedure is going on. Amalendu Bhattacharjee and Nirmal Kanti Roy will grace the semirs as the chief speakers. There will be a talk sjhow which will be compered by Swapan Paul and Ganesh ndi. The paintings will be auctioned in the fair and the visitors will have the chance to buy the beautiful paintings. There will be a video corner in the fair where, as the organisers said, documentary films and slide shows on paintings will be screened. Only the paintings of well–known artistes will get the space in the artists’ gallery which will set up in the fair.

  Entry fee is not there to take part in any of the competitions. The organisers urged help and cooperation from the people of this region to make the event a grand success.
