Birthday of poet observed

GUWAHATI, January 3: Poet Abani Chakravorty’s 74th birthday was celebrated at Guwahati Press Club today under the aegis of Kabita Prakashan aru Pabadhra. A poets’ meet was also held on the occasion. As many as 20 poets, both young and old as well, read out their self–composed poems at the function.
Speaking on the occasion, writer Sabitri Saikia said: “Poet Abani Chakravorty fought for the downtrodden throughout his life.” She demanded inclusion of his poetry in college and university syllabi.
