Infant dies in relief camp

Bongaigaon, Jan 3: A 10–day old child died on Saturday in a relief camp in Chirang district. The child has been identified as Mainu Murmu, daughter of Sunil Murmu, a resident of Rajajan village under Sidli PS in Chirang district. They were living in Krishpur LP School relief camp following the massacre by NDFB.

Talking to mediapersons, Sunil Murmu said that Mainu was ill since the last two days. “But we did not get any medical assistance here in the relief camp and hence her condition became worse. She died today at around 7.30 am,” he said. Murmu also alleged scarcity of baby food in the relief camp.

On the other hand, the rotten body of Kino Hasda, a resident of Saraibil village under Gossaigaon PS in Kokrajhar district was recovered on Saturday in Deushree area under Dadgiri PS in Chirang district. Hasda was missing since December 25. The people of Deosghree village recovered the body today following foul smell from the body. Later it was handed over to police.
