Advance badminton coaching in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, January 6: An advance coaching in Badminton under the auspices of Chaulung Syukafa Indoor Stadium Magement Committee was started in the Chaulung Syukafa Indoor Stadium here on  Monday. The advance–coaching is being provided by Rupkamal Buragohain, coach at the Director of Sports, Assam. Buragohain was felicitated by the stadium magement committee on Monday evening in presence of Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah, media persons, students and parents of the students.

Buragohain was a 1984–85  NIS Coach. He accompanied Indian Junior  Badminton Team as coach to Holland and Germany in 1987. He had also had the reputation of attending the World Badminton Academy for an advance coaching–cum–training in 1985. Buragohain is presently working as a coach with the Director of Sports in Guwahati.   

Saurav Chaliha, Secretary of the Chaulung Syukafa Indoor Stadium Magement Committee told The Sentinel that the magement committee was repeatedly asked the authority of the Director of Sports for providing a world–class coach for the shuttlers of Sivasagar. “We are glad that we have Rupkamal Buragohain with us who will share his knowledge and teach techniques among the shuttlers,” said Chaliha.
