Brutal killing in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, January 6: A Class IX student was killed allegedly by her husband and father–in–law at Mornoi Kir in Sivasagar on Monday evening.

The incident occurred on the road in front of the victim Simi Begum’s mother’s home at Mornoi Kir when her husband Toufique Sah and father–in–law Sahidur Sah, repeatedly stabbed Simi on her neck, chest and lower part of the belly. She died on the way to the hospital, said police.

Simi, daughter of Babul Ali and Fatema Begum of Mornoi Kir, married to Toufique Sah of Ulutoli gaon of Mornoi Kir on April 22, 2014 and their nikah was performed by a kazi of Sori.

Dowry was reportedly the reason which forced Simi to return to her parents’ just a few days ago. According to eye–witnesses, the incident occurred at around 7 pm on Monday evening when three motor–cycle borne men, which included Toufique Sah and his father Sahidur Sah, called Simi to come out of the house and as soon as she came out on the road, they stabbed her repeatedly and fled from the scene with the third unidentified person. Sahidur Sah is a lot– mondol of Sivasagar Circle and his son Toqfique is a drug–addict, said sources.

A case of murder has been registered at Sivasagar Police Station. Efforts are on to b the father–son duo.
