Post offices shifting to CBS

GUWAHATI, January 6: Post office services in Guwahati have gone haywire, in especially monetary transactions. Following reports of improper services to thousands of post office customers in the city, this reporter had to meet those at the helm of affairs in the General Post Office (GPO) at Meghdoot Bhawan. When asked, senior superintendent of post offices, Guwahati division, Dr. Alice K Vizo, on the reason behind the current poor customer services, she said: “The post offices in the country is shifting to the Core Banking System (CBS) from the existing system. The problem is not in Guwahati alone. It’s an all India phenomenon. Since the system is being shifted to a new one, some problems are bound to crop up. However, the process of system shifting is over in the GPO. In other post offices in the city too, the process will be over by tomorrow or day after.”
