A medical and health camp with a difference

Silchar, January 7: It was a medical and health camp with a difference organised jointly by Albert Einstein Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics, Imphal, and South Barak Rural Development Agency. Eminent doctors from Delhi and Manipur capital who included Dr W Motilal MCH, neurosurgeon, Dr Lonsingam Ibobi. M.S. Orthopaedics, Dr Gubanta, trained neuro–surgery , Dr A K Khanba , chief specialist, Dr Rajeswar Sarma, opthamology, Dr N Rameshore Singha, general medicine and paediatric, and Dr Ningonbam Homendra, gyecologist examined the patients of their respective  areas of ailments and accordingly gave them medicines and necessary medical advice.    

The day long health camp held at Binkandie Part II area of Lakhipur sub division last Monday saw turn out of  round 550 patients. The doctors, admitted the patients, gave due attention to their health problems and were richly benefited not only with diagnosis but also costly medicines as needed by each of them. Quite significantly, the presence of a neurosurgeon  was perhaps the first of its kind in this remote area of Cachar district that too in a free camp. Women folk could get their individual problem related before the gyaenocologist.

The camp was iugurated at a simple function presided over by Y diachand and the W Sharat Singha graced the occasion as chief guest. T H Biswath, president of Soth Barak Rural Development Agency, in his welcome address  expressed his satisfaction at the impressive turn out of patients and the presence of expert doctors of distinctions. Dr W Motilal explained the objective of the camp and hoped it would be of benefit those who had come for examition and advice.

Dr W Motilal appreciated the initiative and sincere efforts of South Barak Rural Development Agency in organizing such free medical and heath camp for the poor and needy who would otherwise be left unexamined. It was also praiseworthy that the camp was held in an economically backward  area. He assured of more such camps in future in different parts of the sub division.

He advised the Agency to think of holding camps and the doctors would only be happy to serve the neglected and deprived people. He at the same time thanked the local populace for extending all sorts of help and cooperation in making the camp a success. M Brajeshwar Singha, general secretary of South Barak Development Agency also extended his appreciation to all for their best of cooperation.
