Swine flu claims fourth life in Delhi

New Delhi, January 8: A 30–year–old man became the fourth victim of swine flu on Thursday while eight fresh cases of the disease were reported in the tiol capital, a health official said.

The patient died of swine flu at a private hospital in east Delhi.

“The youth’s condition was extremely serious and he also was constantly on ventilation. He died Thursday morning,” an senior official from the health department told IANS.

A 42–year–old woman from Uttam gar in west Delhi, and a 39–year–old man from Faridabad in the tiol Capital Region (NCR) admitted at a private hospital in east Delhi, died of swine flu Tuesday night.

Earlier, a 51–year–old woman died of swine flu Dec 26 at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in west Delhi.

The eight fresh cases of swine flu reported Thursday include four males and four females.

The total number of swine flu cases reported in the tiol capital has this year reached 31.

S.C.L. Das, Secretary, Delhi health department, said: “We already held a meeting with the tiol Center for Disease and Control(NCDC) and as part of a joint decision have decided to train even the workers at primary healthcare in handling the swine flu cases.”  (IANS)
