Rezaul, Debajani lift titles

GUWAHATI, Jan 9: Rezaul Hoque and Debajani Tamuly, both from Assam, emerged champion in men and women singles title in the North East Zone Carrom championship which concluded at gaon on Thursday. Rezaul defeated his teammate Bitupan Das by 2–0. In the women fil Debajani also registered identical 2–0 win against her teammate Himakshi Badiya. In the junior section both boys and girls singles title were claimed by the players from Manipur. M Prem Kumar Singh defeated Manoj Das of Assam by 2–1 in the boys fil. M Monika Devi claimed the title in the girls singles defeating Assam girl Pubali Ligira by 2–0.The prize distribution function was attended by Arabinda Kalita, SP of gaon,  as a chief guest, former Ranji cricketer Tapan Kumar Sharma as guest of honour and Pradip Hazarika, senior vice president of the All India Carrom Federation.
