Ansari charged for breaching anti-corruption code

Dubai, May 10: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has charged Irfan Ansari, a domestic club coach in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with three counts of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, a statement said on Thursday.

Ansari is party to the code through his position as a person who is affiliated to a team that participates in international matches and the coach of the One Stop Tourism and Multiplex international teams who participate in domestic matches in the UAE.

The three codes that he has been charged under are 2.3.2, 2.3.3 and 2.4.6, which include directly soliciting, inducing, enticing or encouraging a participant and failure or refusal to cooperate with the ACU’s investigation.

Ansari has 14 days from May 19 to respond to the charges. The ICC will not make any further comment in respect of these charges at this stage. IANS
