Tree plantation drive at ITBP sector HQ

Tezpur, May 10: Rotary Club of Tezpur on Thursday, in association with Indo-Tibetan Boarder Police, sector HQ Tezpur and with active support of Sonitpur West Forest Division, Tezpur planted 5,000 saplings in sector HQ ITBP at Bihuguri Rangamati Tezpur with an intention to restore and regain the lost green cover and fight back the global warming and climate change.

 The tree plantation programme was inaugurated by R N Singh, DIG, ITBP, Tezpur sector HQ and Range Officer of Sonitpur West Forest Division, Debabrata Gogoi in presence of Deepak Kejriwal, president of Rotary Club, Tezpur, and secretary Debasish Nath. Deepak Kejriwal said that earlier they planted 2,000 saplings at the same venue for the Rotary year 2017-18.

 While taking part in the plantation programme, Range Officer Debabrata Gogoi stressed the importance of planting trees and said that trees helped in maintaining the ecological balance. He also said that trees should be treated like children and due care should be taken for their growth and development, which would surely benefit the coming generations and environment in general, Gogoi added. Attending the programme, DIG RN Singh said that dynamic relationship between people and the natural environment was critically important for a sustainable future.
