Two activists on hunger strike hospitalized

A Correspondent

JORHAT, May 10: Two members of Asom Premy Yuva Santha were hospitalized and admitted at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital following sickness as both the members were on hunger strike for the past 80 hours along with several others in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. The hunger strike has been continuing since May 6 to pressurize the government to reconsider its decision of handing over the maintenance of three historical monuments and Kaziranga National Park to private companies, and against the citizenship amendment bill.

No administrative or government representative tried to listen to the grievances of the Asom Premy Yuva Santha members on hunger strike since the past 80 hours, but ironically after the two members fell ill, the administration managed to send Bibanshaiya Dutta, a magistrate, to receive the memorandum from the protesters. The hospitalized members are Suman Bora, district publicity secretary, and Anirban Bordoloi, district assistant secretary. (IANS)
